RAMADHAN.....

Apapun... Penulis ingin mengucapkan SELAMAT HARI RAYA AIDILFITRI... MAAF, ZAHIR DAN BATIN....

(Dah terhidu bau lauk-pauk berbuka di dapur...)

Kaspersky Installer version 7

I have been at PSPN for three weeks. I stay in the hostel. With that I could enjoy continuous Internet connection. I make use of it to the fullest. But, this is not without its lowdown. Since I have been here, this laptop has to be formatted twice. Both because of virus attacks. Since then, I have bought Kaspersky Installer v. 7. It manages to stall attacks somehow, with Trojan virus and Worms the persistent attackers. After the first attack, I could not do anything - I could not follow this course smoothly. The course's contents are ICT-based. For two days, I just came into SATRIABESTARI room, marking exam papers. Sometimes, I did what I could help fellow coursemates the course' contents since some are shown in English Language. The laptop was formatted by the PSPN technician. For 5 times, the installment of Windows XP by Mr Auzan - my coursemate - stopped at 34%. The 6th and 7th tries were the same. Only after the 8th try, the laptop was up and running. Maybe, after two years, this machine wants new pairs of hands. I still trust it, anyway. Hopefully, after next week, it'll return to its best.

PSPN - 7 August 2008

Today, the business gets busier. Everybody here in this course are glued to the screens of their machines to complete various tasks given. It rains here. Saiful Bakhtiar, who takes over my responsibilities at school - as an English teacher for 3 classes and 2 EST classes, Form 103's teacher duties - is down with flu. Sympathy for him. My absence and his taking over could be the cause. That's all for now.

2008 Men's Single Wimbledon Final

Apa sudah jadi, Federer?

Federer's loss to Nadal is something I did not expect to happen. I was full of hope that Federer would survive Nadal and take home the trophy again. Even his big loss in the French Open finals did not make me change my expectation. Then, came the day of drama - the Wimbledon Men's Singles Final. All five sets played were competitive. The competitiveness remained even after two rainstops. The first rally of the match could be the telltale sign that this was going to be explosive. Alas, Nadal took the first two sets 6-4, 6-4. By then, it all pointed to Federer's loss. Personally, I believed at that moment that Federer would make a comeback. And, yes, he did. He took the second two sets 7-6, i7-6. As expected, he won all the tiebreaks in the match. He almost lost one in the fourth set when Nadal led him by 5-2. Luck was with Federer. Nadal committed a double fault. 5-3. Federer won the next point when Nadal's weak second serve was broken by him. 5-4. Then, came Federer's turn. He did what he should have did at first - firing a stinging ace, and killed off Nadal's resistance to take the game to the fifth. Federer won 7-6.

Came the penultimate set. No tiebreak. After four hours, they still fought tooth and nail, using all stored arsenal to eliminate one another. The fifth game was filled with more drama. What superhuman efforts they had. No superlatives could describe how the last 45 minutes went. Finally, at 9.16 pm, Federer surrendered his title with a forehand that hit the net. Briefly before that, he returned Nadal's serve with a backhand crosscourt. Spectators stood in amazement. "Can he survive?" It was not to be. His last unforced error decided everything.

Tennis bug has certainly taken its toll on me. Here at PSPN there is a tennis court. Met a fellow tennis fan, wearing Rafa-style short (this one is not tight). So far, we have played 4 times. All won by him, Shamsul Kamil Osman. I managed to win 8 games only. It was awkward at first as I only used to play badminton. With badminton, most hits and returns involve wrist movement. So far, I find that in playing tennis, wrist movement seems insignificant to the movement of forearm. There I could see that what I am going to hit is something much heavier than what I have to hit in badminton. The racquet make is also different. The game technics are different. So far, in the four games I have played, I managed to return shots and make a few crosscourt returns. I managed to serve, tossing the ball into the right court. After watching many tennis live coverage and highlights, I finally get to feel the beauty of the game.

BESTARI COURSE, PSPN IPOH

This blog is also a product of an assignment given by instructors from IPSAH (Institut Perguruan Sultan Abdul Halim). Here, blogging is introduced as one of the ways of teaching in which consultation is done through Internet. By blogging, it is hoped that teachers can prepare another source of information for students to understand their teaching, to acquire notes from missed T&L sessions and to revel in a new way of communicating and learning with their students.

After this course ends, we are required to use one or more of these tools to teach. Some of the tools introduced are MindJet MindManager, VideoCutter, SnagIt, YouTube homepage and downloader, Microsoft Publisher, Windows MovieMaker and how to use Sound Recorder. Me and fellow participants take these as knowledge, leaving the question on implementation at the end of the course. For now, let's enjoy the stuff. With plenty of backdated jobs await at school, plus the sanctioned shares of burden as outlined in school Taqwim Tahunan Guru 2008, questions of effective teaching with these tools, hopefully could be ironed out before 15th August, the very last day.

WORLD WIDE BLOGGING

This is my first endeavour into the world of net-diary. It is an open book for all to see. I won't bare all. Some will be kept within me. What can be read here can be taken as knowledge or an impetus for an idea on just about anything. Among the things I hope to achieve by entering this world is to keep my mind rejuvenated and improve my grasp on English Language.

This is the time!!
